Recycling of textile materials ensures better acoustics

At KE Fibertec, the course has been established for some years and we have been working with sustainability for many years. When we started the whole journey, it was very much about optimizing our solutions for lower energy consumption and less waste. In recent years, we have begun to focus a lot on waste as a resource and the entire supply chain, in addition to our social responsibility. Here, the UN's 17 World Goals have been an integral part of our strategy since we were certified by Bureau Veritas in 2021. Today, we follow selected SDG objectives and still have a focus on optimizing and developing our solutions accordingly.
As a company, we have never been afraid to set ambitious climate goals. We make the necessary investments and work strategically and systematically throughout the company to meet our objectives, both because we have a responsibility as a company and because the investments can also be counted on our bottom line in terms of lower energy costs, less waste and unique competitive advantages. In short, we put action behind the words. KE Fibertec sees waste as a valuable resource, which has often been mishandled and disposed of in the past. One of the elements of our new strategy plan “Sustainability as a Business Model” is about becoming both waste and CO! 2-neutral at our Danish factories by 2030.
At KE Fibertec, we have come a long way with the goals for recycling and recycling of our materials. We are continuously working to conclude strategic cooperation agreements to minimize our waste from production. We are therefore extremely pleased to have just extended our agreement with Kvadrat Really for the recycling of residual materials from our laser cutters in production. In 2025 alone, we expect to send up to 40 tons of residual material for further processing at Kvadrat Really. The residual material is granulated before it is used to make absorbent plates in the Kvadrat Acoustic High End product line called TRACK'S. In this way, all surplus material from KE Fibertec textiles will be included in the unicircular economy and recycled into new products to improve the acoustics of the room and thus also the indoor climate. So in addition to the fact that the agreement with Kvadrat Really is in line with the fact that we at KE Fibertec see waste as a ressouce, the cooperation also contributes to our core performance — ensuring a good and healthy indoor climate. All residual materials from KE Fibertec are both Cradle to Cradle certified and brand approved.
