FLUGT Museum

Integral part of the design
The existing building was retrofitted from a building that was once a hospital to a new museum. Where there used to be patient rooms and operating rooms, nine large exhibition spaces have now been established, across two separate buildings. The revitalization of this building amounts to over 17,200 Sq ft of entertaining area.
In order to create an architectural and historical context, the architect has chosen to add a slightly curved concept, which both brings together the existing buildings and adds an additional 5,400 Sq ft to the museum. The extension also serves as a welcoming main entrance for museum guests. A large glass partition from floor to ceiling gives a beautiful view of a green farm environment with the forest as a backdrop.
KE Fibertec, in close cooperation with Airteam, has delivered a textile-based ventilation solution for the museum. In total, 550 feet of 4" of engineered fabric ducts ensure the properly designed indoor climate for both visitors and employees - including the staff in the museum's kitchen.
In the extension, the ventilation solution is integrated directly into the design of the ceiling, where the fabric ducts are located discreetly behind the wooden structure. In this way, aesthetics and function are united without compromising ventilation performance. Although the ventilation solution is not visible, it continues to contribute to high comfort and optimal air exchange in the rooms with the added benefit of a quieter air delivery than traditional metal ducts.
For the installation at FLUGT Museet, the material GreenWeave was chosen because it is particularly suitable to distribute the air via is porous more breathable material that assists for a more comfortable environment. The chosen colors where light grey in the kitchen and in black in the extension.
