Constant air changes are essential for growth facilities
Ventilation is essential when crops need optimal growing conditions because it controls the climate around the plants. Without proper ventilation, temperature, humidity and CO₂ levels can quickly become harmful and adversely affect both growth and yield. The plants give off water vapor through transpiration. If the air is not replaced, the humidity becomes very high. Excessive humidity creates good conditions for mold, mildew, gray mold and other fungal diseases. By ventilating, moisture levels are kept more stable, reducing the risk of disease.
In addition, ventilation creates air circulation in the greenhouse. Movement in the air strengthens the stems of plants, prevents areas of stagnant air and reduces the risk of disease outbreaks. A well-ventilated environment can also make conditions less attractive to certain pests and thus reduce the spread of diseases.
