Driving a Greener Future: Sustainable Textile Based Ventilation Solutions
20-12-2024At KE Fibertec, we are deeply committed to sustainability and work tirelessly to ensure that our products - specifically our Textile Based Ventilation (TBV) systems - are as eco-friendly as possible. Our dedication to the environment is evident in every stage of our product lifecycle, from design and production to the end-of-life recycling of our textile ducts.
Environmental Product Declarations (EPD)
We understand that our customers want to make informed decisions when it comes to the environmental impact of their projects. That’s why we provide third-party verified Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) for all our Textile Based Ventilation products.
These EPDs cover the complete lifecycle of our products, providing comprehensive data on the carbon footprints of all components, including textiles, fastenings, and packaging. This transparency allows you to calculate CO₂ emissions and make truly sustainable choices for your projects.
Certification with the UN’s Global Goals for Sustainable Development
In July 2021, we reached an important milestone by earning certification under the United Nations' Global Goals for Sustainable Development (SDGs) through Bureau Veritas. This achievement aligns us with the global movement for sustainability and ensures that we are actively contributing to a sustainable future. We focus on four SDGs where we believe our products can have the most impact:
- SDG 6: Clean Water and Sanitation
We’ve reduced water consumption by over 67% in our fabric dyeing process, saving approximately 1 million litres of water annually, compared to conventional dyeing methods. - SDG 7: Affordable and Clean Energy
Since 2014, all the electricity used at our Danish factories has come from 100% wind energy, ensuring that our operations remain carbon-neutral. - SDG 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth
We follow the UN’s Global Compact principles, which focus on human rights, environmental protection, and anti-corruption. Additionally, we are certified under ISO 45001:2018, ensuring a safe and healthy working environment for all our employees. - SDG 12: Responsible Consumption and Production
We’ve reduced our carbon footprint by 52% per unit of turnover since 2010 and have implemented a robust waste reduction strategy. For example, we now recycle up to 7 tons of surplus yarn annually, which not only reduces waste but also helps produce mounting components for our textile ducts.
Cradle to Cradle Certification
We were one of the first companies to introduce a fully sustainable ventilation product—our CradleVent® textile duct, which was the world’s first Cradle to Cradle-certified ventilation duct. This certification supports our circular economy approach, ensuring that materials used in our products are recyclable and reusable rather than ending up in landfills. The Cradle to Cradle framework is at the heart of our design philosophy, and we continue to innovate with a strong focus on sustainable material sourcing and waste reduction.
CO₂ Reduction and Waste Minimisation
Sustainability isn’t just about the products we make - it’s embedded in how we operate day-to-day. We have taken major steps to reduce our environmental impact across the board. For example, we’ve reduced waste generated by our laser cutting machines by 38 tons and worked to reduce the carbon footprint of our operations by 52% per unit of turnover since 2010. Additionally, our textile ducts are much lighter than traditional metal ducts, which means they require less energy to transport, contributing to lower CO₂ emissions across the supply chain.
Key Benefits of Textile Based Ventilation
Textile Based Ventilation systems are inherently more sustainable than traditional metal ducts. Their lightweight design makes them easier to transport, leading to reduced fuel consumption and CO₂ emissions. The air distribution is highly efficient, allowing for optimal performance at lower air pressures, meaning less energy is used overall. Furthermore, our textile ducts are long-lasting, highly resistant to humidity, and easy to clean, which maximises their lifespan and reduces maintenance needs.
Our commitment to sustainability is reflected in every aspect of our Textile Based Ventilation products. From our comprehensive environmental certifications to our continuous focus on reducing waste, energy consumption, and CO₂ emissions, KE Fibertec is proud to offer solutions that support the global effort for a greener, more sustainable future.
