Comfortable indoor climate and efficient ventilation in shops

For many years KE Fibertec has supplied efficient air distribution to the retail business where draught free and comfortable indoor climate for customers and staff is required

The indoor climate in shops is a key factor in order to obtain optimum work conditions for the staff and a positive shopping experience for customers.

In shops selling non-food articles the air may become stale without any air exchange. On the other hand natural ventilation through open windows may cause draught problems for customers and staff.

In addition the indoor air in storage rooms may contain pollutant sources from e.g. adhesives and surface treatment of shoes or furniture.

Draught-free ventilation in furniture shop

A few years ago when the furniture shop, IDEmøbler in Hjørring, DK, was establishing their new shop, they chose KE Fibertec's textile ducts in order to ensure a uniform and even air distribution as well as reduce the risk of draught problems.

The ducts were  installed visibly below the ceiling and the ducts were made in a grey fabric so that they despite the big dimensions would not dominate the room. The textile ducts were hybrid ducts where part of the air seeps out through the material surface in the full length of the duct, and part of the air is delivered through laser cut holes in order to obtain more directional ventilation.

To facilitate the installation of the ducts below the ceiling and the dismounting of the ducts for wash, they have been divided by zippers into sections that are easy to handle.

Directional air distribution at IKEA

When IKEA built their new warehouse Älmhult to replace their old facility from 1958, they installed textile ducts in four departments. The challenge here was to ensure even distribution of the fresh air so that it despite the tall rooms would reach the customers and employees of the warehouse.

For departments of max. 4 meters ceiling height the solution was ducts with laser cut holes, and in the high-bay warehouse that is around 10 meters high the ducts were fitted with nozzles. This enabled directional air distribution to prevent "dead" zones.

A textile duct from KE Fibertec is both an environmental and an energy efficient alternative to ducts made of steel.

  • Lightweight material - low transportation costs
  • No draught and no dead zones
  • Efficient and uniform distribution of fresh air
  • Silent air distribution - down to 25 dbA
  • Clean air as the systems filter out dust particles from the supply air
  • Easy installation and removal
  • Washable in a regular washing machine - no growth of bacteria
  • Environmentally friendly materials
  • Available in numerous custom colours
  • Tailored ducts that match the design of the room

KE Fibertec has supplied textile based ventilation to many different comfort installations where the demand for draught-free, uniform and efficient air distribution has been combined with outstanding design.
