Celebrating 25 years of supplying sustainable and good indoor climate

03-05-2021

On 1 May 2021, it is 25 years since KE Fibertec was founded after a management buyout by two senior employees, Henning S. Jensen and Carsten Jespersen, together with the private equity fund Industri Udvikling A/S. However, the very foundation for the development of textile based ventilation dates back to 1963, when Keld Ellentoft began manufacturing filter bags for industry.

We are proud and grateful that we can celebrate KE Fibertec’s anniversary on top of an uneven and tumultuous year with COVID-19 and its global challenges. From being a small Danish manufacturer, the company is today the world's largest supplier of niche products within textile based ventilation with approx. 135 employees in Denmark and in our eight subsidiaries in Europe, the USA and Asia.

The journey up till now has been both exciting and educational with an ongoing optimisation and development of our products and processes. With our own weaving mill and development department at our head office in Vejen we have built up a great deal of knowledge and many years of experience in efficient and optimal air distribution. We cover the entire Supply Chain part, from raw yarns used in our weaving mill, to the finished fabrics used in our production to sew into tailored textile ducts. With our "end of life return plan" for CradleVent products, we also take responsibility for ensuring that our products after a long service life are disposed of responsibly.

Sustainability, technical know-how and high quality products form the foundation of KE Fibertec. One of the first cornerstones of this foundation was laid when the company back in 1998 introduced the first online dimensioning tool, WinVent 3D. It has later been replaced by a new unique sizing and air visualisation programme, TBV Designer. In 2012, another important milestone was reached when KE Fibertec succeeded in being certified according to the sustainability standard Cradle to Cradle and getting CradleVent® approved as the world's first sustainable ventilation duct within this standard.

It has subsequently defined our current way of developing our products and is today the whole philosophy - our DNA - behind our products and services on energy-friendly and sustainable solutions for construction industry. Over the years, several solutions and concepts have been developed according to this philosophy.  Our product management has focus on minimising unnecessary waste on the construction site e.g. mounting rails cut to size and packaging that can be easily disposed of.

A prerequisite for our development over the years is a close collaboration with knowledge partners, subsidiaries, customers and suppliers, where we through dialogue continuously work to find common solutions that meet the end customer's expectations and create a good and sustainable indoor climate. We believe that we achieve the best solutions with high quality based on innovation when we collaborate and apply common knowledge to achieve the best results.

It is our ambition to continue the development of making quality solutions that ensure not only a good indoor climate that everyone should be entitled to, but also products that contribute positively to the sustainability and climate footprint of the individual building. In 2021, we expect to be certified in accordance with the UN's 17 SDGs through Bureau Veritas as a step towards fulfilling our ambition to become CO2-neutral by 2030.

We would like to thank our many partners and customers, who have been a large part of the journey up to today, and who have contributed to KE Fibertec's development over the past 25 years. We also extend a big thank you to our many committed employees who every day help to make a difference and contribute to the continued positive development that has made it all possible.

The anniversary will be marked in May at a virtual gathering with all employees from all divisions of the KE Group, but at a distance and observing all local restrictions.
