Fresh air for creative ideas

When the Kolding School of Design underwent a major renovation of the school's buildings, one of the projects was to optimise and replace large parts of the school's ventilation system. Our customer Bravida in Kolding was responsible for the ventilation contract and, in close collaboration with KE Fibertec, installed textile based solutions in the school's new canteen and most of the other teaching facilities. These range from rooms where machines are used for creative tasks and thus demand a high air exchange rate, to larger, open rooms where textiles and paper materials are used for creative tasks.

"Textile ducts are an environmentally friendly alternative and a good way to supply and transport air in buildings. At Bravida, we install textile ducting in all kinds of buildings, and at the Kolding School of Design we have installed them in the school's canteen, workshops and assembly rooms. But a textile based solution is also ideal for other types of buildings such as offices, laboratories, sports centres and the like. Unlike steel ducts, textile ducts are made of a lighter material. This has many advantages in the building in question, not only in terms of installation time, but also for the installers, where the lower weight of the solution provides better ergonomics. Textile ducts are also significantly less environmentally harmful to produce than steel ducts and fittings, which is very important to Bravida", says Dorthe Hougaard, Head of Department at Bravida Kolding.

For the new ventilation solution, KE Fibertec has supplied textile ducts in the two strong qualities, GreenWeave and MultiWeave, in the colour light grey, which blends in well with the rest of the school's decor and interior. In the school canteen, a nearly 20 metre long textile duct made of MultiWeave material including several nozzles has been installed to ensure that the air is distributed evenly despite the height from ceiling to floor. Both Safetrack and D-Lite Alu rail systems were used for the installation of the textile ducts, which has given a great result.
